Will it work anyone done it? I have a 5.2 but the 4.0 and 4.7 WJs in my junk yards have electric fans and they look real good. Wanting to put electric fan on my ZJ just wondering if anyone has done it. I'm sure I can make it fit and work. I would say it would draw more air than my stock mechanical fan?

I swapped a 94 Ford Taurus 3.0 fan on my ZJ. I trimmed the shroud down until it fit perfectly between the side tanks of the radiator and made some simple brackets for the top and used a couple auxiliary cooler mounting zip ties to secure the bottom. I used an adjustable fan controller to power the fan when the rad inlet temperature reaches 150 degrees, or when the A/C compressor kicks on. I swapped the ZJ water pump for an XJ water pump and pulley to give me a little extra room between the water pump and fan assembly. I wired it battery lead with a 40 amp circuit breaker. I used to have a fuse for that lead, but the fuse holder melted and caused catastrophic radiator failure due to overheating. I got rid of the OEM style plastic radiator in favor of an all aluminum radiator. My cooling system works awesome and stays at about 190 degrees, it does climb up to 210 in the hills though. The pictures are before I changed the water pump and radiator, but gives you an idea of what I did.

Old fart with a wrench
A WJ fan should work nicely, but grab the shroud as well. You just have to have some way to control it. It's fused at 40 amps so you'll need a relay. It kicks A$$ at high speed!

The Flex-A-Lite controller is 82 bucks, but I don't remember paying that much for mine. This Hayden controller is 46 dollars and can be used for either two fans or one two speed fan. The Taurus fan is a two speed fan. I set mine up to only run the high speed. The Taurus fan pulls about 40amps when it first kicks on. I recommend using a circuit breaker with threaded studs as opposed to the cheap fuse holder that will melt after a while.
