Default Wire Connections for Radio Install

I have a 1997 Grand Cherokee Limited. I bought a wiring harness and connected it to a Pioneer I am replacing the factory unit with. I have power but no sound. I tried using the diagram from www.installdr.com I have also just hooked up the wires that have the same color running from the harness to the new radio with the same results power but no sound.

What am I doing wrong?

This is Cherokee tech not Grand Cherokee tech...but here ya go any way.

Car Radio Constant 12V+ Wire: Red/White
Car Radio Switched 12V+ Wire: Red/Gray
Car Radio Ground Wire: Black
Car Radio Illumination Wire: Blue/Red
Car Radio Dimmer Wire: Orange
Car Radio Antenna Trigger Wire: Green/Red
Car Radio Amp Trigger Wire: N/A
Front Speakers Size: 5 1/4″
Front Speakers Location: Doors
Left Front Speaker Wire (+): Green
Left Front Speaker Wire (-): Brown/Red
Right Front Speaker Wire (+): Purple/Yellow
Right Front Speaker Wire (-): Blue
Rear Speakers Size: 5 1/4″
Rear Speakers Location: Rear Doors
Left Rear Speaker Wire (+): Brown/Yellow
Left Rear Speaker Wire (-): Brown/Light Blue
Right Rear Speaker Wire (+): Blue/White
Right Rear Speaker Wire (-): Blue/Pink

now just match up the wires from your radio(should come with a installation guide) and your all set. Oh and that site is way off.

Edit: Few tips from a cf member to others. When installing a new radio try to use as little wire as possible. When I got my wife's cherokee it had literally 20' of excess wire. Also use some form of wire connector whether it be butt connectors or even small wire nuts(I prefer wire nuts because they are a breeze to take back off). One more thing is take each positive(car side and radio side) and twist it together with the corresponding negative. Makes life easier if your have to mess with it and dont have a diagram handy.

It had infinity speakers so I think the system is infinity too?

Do you know how to hook up the steering wheel remote to an aftermarket system?

New to this forum. Thanks for letting me know I was in the wrong one.

Thanks for your quick responses

I dont think you will be able to use the steering wheel volume control because the factory radio as a PCB capable of working remotely were an aftermarket radio will be all internally. Same as the dimmer the factory radio will dim were most aftermarkets wont. It should say infinity on the receiver(head unit) should it not?

Do what I do, wire everything directly with new wire, (including speaker wire). That way you don't have to worry about factory wiring, or what the PO did before you. That way if a problem arises, you know who to blame!.............................JMO!

I did a little searching and I can buy an adaptor for the steering wheel that should work. Walmart harness has the adaptor for steering wheel also.

I also got some sounds now thanks for the wiring post.

I've never done that before I wouldn't know where to begin as far as running the wire goes. I put new speakers in but have had problems with the wiring since.

Its going to be an after market. It was eorking just fine, but the light was staying on so i pulled it out to check the wiring and come to find out the wiring was all okay... when I put the deck back into the dash I guess I've been a wire and then it went off I didn't have no music but yet I still had power to the deck I had no lights on and it wouldn't even inject the Disc but the faceplate was still light up

I used a PAC SWI-RC with my Pioneer DEH-80 PRS. Put up a review on amazon too. Did a full system over three days. PM me if you need wiring diagrams or any info.

Edit: totally didn't see the date on that.
