Wipers and Radio stay on after turning off car
So I recently bought a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with 120,000 miles. The other day I had to get it jumped in the morning and later that afternoon so I brought it into my service station. They kept it overnight and couldn't find anything wrong with the batter, the alternator, or any obvious connectors. I noticed that when I turn the car off, and after opening the driver door, the radio and wipers still stay on. Even after a couple of hours they stay on. This obviously is why the battery is draining. I'm new to owning a jeep and already frustrated that the service station couldn't find a problem. So, is it bad wiring that needs to be fixed? Is it something I can easily do? Also, all of the climate controls go off so it really seems like an isolated problem.

IMHO, change the ignition switch. Apparently the accessory circuit is still hot with the key off. To test this, see if the dome lights turn right off. The dome lights turn off after a programmed time with the ignition off. With the accessory circuit on, they fade out right away when you close the door. With the accessory circuit live, the wipers, power windows, and radio are still powered up. Also, the key buzzer isn't armed. The heater blower doesn't work on accessory.
I've sat for hours waiting for my newspapers to arrive at the distribution branch listening to the radio and using the one-sweep function of the wipers so I can see what's going on outside. I've noticed my key switch detent between off and accessory is getting kind of nonexistant. I have 145K on my 2000 WJ.
