I've been noticing some light brown liquid drops on the road lately when I'm parked. . I just went under the hood and noticed it's coming out of the oil filter and hitting that metal bar and dropping. Please see my pictures. What could this crap be now? I hope it's not somethin serious.

Old fart with a wrench
Sometimes, but not often, the pinch seal where the oil filter can is attached to the base will leak. We had a few if these when I worked at Valvoline. We started using a new supplier and found this problem. We went back to the old company and cured this.
Another cause could be the gasket from the last filter is still there and causing a double gasket leak. One of the procedures on second-party-checks at Valvoline was to show the old filter with it's gasket intact to the top-side tech before start-up. A lot of the bad reputation instant oil change places get is from not following procedures. After all, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to change oil! Just do it right!

I am guessing this is a 3.7 or 4.7?
It could be your oil pressure switch/sensor, which is directly above the oil filter, on the filter housing.
The oil pressure switch is most likely the culprit, just take a look at it, it should be wet where the plug connects, and if you unplug it, you will probably see oil inside of it.
If not, I can tell you that power steering fluid can be mistaken for motor oil sometimes, and the pump is located above the filter, if memory serves me correct. The valve end of the steering rack is in that general vicinity as well.

I re put a white cardboard and will check if it's still leaking tomorrow.
Let's say its the oil pressure switch/sensor, how do I repair that?
I also had a power steering flush done around 3-5 months ago.
How do I tell? And what about the valve end of the steering rack?
Thx guys

Hi, it's a 4.7. I tried to tighten the oil filter but it did not seem loose at all.

If it's the oil pressure switch, it's fairly simple, you will just need a socket that fits it. There are sockets designed specifically for those sensors, but if I remember right, you can use something like a 17,18, or 19mm deep socket to get it out. Put a drain pan under where you are working, you will lose some oil when the sensor is removed. When you get a new one, if it does not already have some sort of sealant on the threads, you should apply a little bit of RTV silicone(I like red or grey, but black would probably be fine) or teflon tape. The new one should be tight, but not super tight. Before plugging the new one in, I would have a can of the cheap brake cleaner to spray off the leaked oil, and to clean out the connector (QD cleaner works, too).

I think any one of those brands are good, just make sure they have a metal impeller, not plastic.

The metal impeller probably isn't as important on the 4.7, but on the 4.0, a little looseness in the bearings can cause the impeller to strike the cylinder barrel and shatter.

thats oil ... unless your coolant system is shot out ....
Just a suggestion .... take it to the dealer and have them look at it ....
You asked and got answers then you took it to the "family" mechanic and he told you different .. then you asked here again to check on him .... I am not confident that you can repair this ... just based on the facts ....
