Where does this wire go?

I swapped in a 4.0 engine from a Cherokee and I can't figure this last wire, can anyone help?

Thanks,

Hmm.

Took a quick glance and didn't see it on my ZJ. More info maybe? Wire colors and where you are able to trace it?

ok I'll strip the wire back, it almost looks like a sensor?? thanks for your reply,

I second this motion

You think that this sensor has something to do with the hood light?

I know this is plug is not on any xj 4.0 I only found it on the zj

I don't know what year your Cherokee is, but it's probably the temp sensor for the gauges. There's a sensor toward the back of the head. I don't remember which year did away with the sensor there, but you can always extend the wire and put a sensor in the thermostat housing or something

Thank you for the reply, this would explain why my temp gauge is not working. So they put two temp sensors? One at the top rear of the head and one at the front water hose jacket?

Any suggestions on how I could modify this? as the new engine from xj does not have a top rear sensor.

Thanks,

ok I found a solution, cut my top rad hose and fit this puppy:

2 Attachment(s)
Attachment 404191Attachment 404192 I personally would do something like this before I would cut a major hose. If something in this starts leaking it will most likely be minor, but if for some reason the large hose starts leaking it could be much worse.

yes I agree, it could be a mess but atleastd I would see the cloud of steam erupt out of my hood as the coolant goes all over the engine.

That being said, I may do the above and leave the hose sensor for my electric fan sensor. Thank you so much for those awesome pics! As the matrix would have it, I already did this copper work on our 1967 Cutlass Oldsmobile.
