Default What wheels will fit my 97 Grand Cherokee?

I have a 97 Grand Cherokee Limited. The tires that were on it when we bought it are 235/70/16. I only put maybe 5k miles a yr on the Jeep and tires will dry rot before I wear them out so i was looking for some used tires. I ve found several tire/wheel combos on craigslist but dont know which Jeeps will fit my bolt pattern or what bolt pattern I have now.

Could I go to a 225/75/16 or 245/75/16 on stock wheels?

I tried a search and didnt come up with anything. Any help is appreciated.

The bolt pattern you have is a 5x4.5" or 5x114.3. There are many different auto companies that share that bolt pattern. 5 lug Mustang from 1964-2008, Ranger from 1973-2008

As far as tires, unless you want the headache of having your speedo off I would stick with same size tires. If you go with bigger tires there are new speedo gears you can get to make the speedo more accurate.

Why? You re looking at a 1/2-3/4" difference in tire height. That comes out to 2 mph difference. I barely run the speed limit now so I m not concerned bout 2 mph.

Agreed, I have 33's on mine and the speed is only hard to keep in check on the highway (the difference is based on a percent not a fixed figure) where when I'm going 65 it's more around 69-70. Around the city it is hardly noticeable. I've checked with radar displays and I'm only off 1-2 mph at 30 mph.
