What is this??
Hey all,
I just acquired a 95 Grand Cherokee Laredo. So far, with some minor issues being fixed, it's a great Jeep!
One thing though, when I got it, the interior dome light cover was busted off, and the clips wont work to hold it up, but there was this electrical thing attached by wires from where the rest of the lights are... It was just hanging there, and it's suppose to fit on the inside of the cover housing, but I just unplugged it.
can anyone please enlighten me on what this is?
some thought it was a temp sensor or something, but it doesn't have one of those digital temp gauges or anything.

I'm not 100% but I believe it's for the old infrared keyless entry they used in jeeps 95 and older. Theres actually supposed to be a little black dome over that.

There should be a black dome over it. You can get a remote from www.keylessride.com for about 60 bucks, but the IR system really kind of sucks and I would recommend an aftermarket keyless entry system if you feel the need for keyless entry.

Haha that's what I thought it was for! I have a new old 95 GC and I was poking at that dome the other day wondering if that's what it was.
