Water sound behind the dash part 2....HELP!!!!! I am loosing my f%^&*$ mind.
So, I have the common water sound.
Start the truck and drive away as the gentle sound of a waterfall makes you want to rip your ears off......LOL
Anyway, I tried drilling the hole from the passengers side footwell and fishing a coat hanger. The drain plug was clear and no water came out.
So that was a failure.
Next came checking and topping off the coolant as recommended by a member here....I checked it and only needed a very small amount to make it full.
I still have that sound and have no idea why.
I forgot to mention that the heat in the truck is marginal at best. I am wondering if the heater core is to blame for all of this?
Does anyone have any idea? I am to the point that I would rather buy something else....thats how annoyed I am.
Its my DD so I cant pull apart the truck for a week to figure this out.
If you have any other ideas please let me know.

Sounds like you have an air pocket in the cooling system. Jack the front of the Jeep up so the radiator fill neck in the highest point in the cooling system and remove the cap when the system is cold, then start the engine and let it run until it reaches operating temp. You should see air bubbling up around the fill neck, once the bubble stop put the cap back on and top off the reservoir. Not a bad time to replace the cap too. If you're still having issues with low heat output you may have a clogged heater core. Feel the heater hoses when the engine is at operating temp, one should be hot and the other should be a bit cooler. If they are both cool or if one is hot and the other is cold, you have a clogged core. I've had good luck with blowing compressed air through the heater core to blow the crap out of it, then burp the system as described earlier.

All my cars do that. All it is is the coolant cycling through the system upon startup and even after shut down my Xj does it. As for marginal heat, another thing to look for along with a clogged core would be the baffle in the HVAC box. If its not moving from hot to cold you wont get heat either. Slide/rotate the temp lever/**** from hot to cold kinda fast and you should hear it thump as it closes. If you dont get that thump, your HVAC tempature baffle in the HVAC box is not working.

Take a rag and wrap it around your heater hose, then pinch it closed with a visegrip. If the problem is gone, its heater core related.

My ZJ does the same. sounds like water running through the core to me. No big deal. ive heard it in other jeeps too. my heater is also only blowing marginal. i flushed it and it got a little better.
