Vibrations at 55mph...?

Ok, so I'm experiencing vibrations, but only between 55 and 60mph. Before and after that range, it's smooth driving. Anyone else ever encounter this?

Background info: The XJ is stock (for the next 29 days). No mods, so it isn't anything I've added. I took it in for an alignment after I bought it a couple of weeks ago cuz it felt like it was pulling to the right at higher speeds. They said the alignment was fine but that the tires were over-inflated and had irregular wear. Tires were set properly and the Jeep rides straight. But that vibe is still there.

You have a tire balance problem. 55-60 seems to be the magic speed when tire vibrations pop up.

Thanks Busted. I already have a brand new set of 31s I just can't get them on till June 1st (bought a 4" Skyjacker lift and 33" Mickey T's for my Rubi) cuz I did the math in my ledger wrong and didn't have enough for both lifts...CARRY THE 1, MAN!!! Basic math seems to elude this guy.

I'm 68 and have used trig in my job every day, BUT I still check my math with a calculator when doing my checkbook. I don't like $30 overdraft fees!

On the vibration, A very slight imbalance can be amplified by worn hub bearings. My 97 ZJ had this same problem. I'd be running fine until I hit a slight pavement blemish and she'd go into the dreaded "death wobble"! Only around 55 though. I had the tires spin-balanced and changed both front hubs. Problem gone!

Thanks Dave. And I usually use a calculator, bump my receipts against my leger, and I'm very anal about my checkbook. Learned the hard way in my youth about keeping up with this stuff. I forgot about an auto draft I had set up that went to my former bank for my Harley and it's insurance. Wouldn't have put me overdraft but if I had gone with the XJ lift purchase (gotta get full leafs) I'd definitely be feeling the pinch for a few weeks.

I'm not using the XJ too much as the weather is amazing (finally). So I don't have a rush on the problem. But come June 1st, she will be lifted, new tires and wheels, balanced, and aligned. Any problems found in the process will be quickly addressed. I love my Cherokee and can't wait to give her a face lift.
