V8 to V6 conversion on a 2000
I found a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited for sale for $1,500. The engine is blown. I am considering this vehicle and would like to install a V6 instead of a V8. I do not plan on towing anything.
Does anyone have any advice on this? Is this common? Would the V6 hook up to the tranny of the V8? Would I need a new tranny? Thanks

Old fart with a wrench
In 2000 the standard engines were the 4.7 V8 and the 4.0 STRAIGHT 6. It will bolt to the mounts, but the transmissions are different and so are the electronics. I'm not sure about the later 3.7 V6, but I would assume the problems are the same.

You might check on a Dodge Durango 4.7. They seem to be more plentiful.
