Welcome to CF!

I'm not trying to scare you off, but we need a lot more information about your jeep before we can tell you what to do. We at least need year and engine size&type, like is it a diesel?

winstonem 10-14-2016 06:27 AM

its a 2004 jeep grand cherokee. engine 4y. diesel, 4 litter.

Thank you, but unfortunately I have no experience with diesels except helping to service the BIG BOYS, like 18-wheelers. There may be others here that know something from European cars, but until recently we weren't allowed to buy diesel jeeps.

Do you have a Jeep dealership close by? They are your best choice at being pointed in the right direction.

The diesel wj was export only and most of us are americans,We have never seen one.But a turbo does have oil seals in it that can go bad over time which will make it smoke.Best option is have the dealership or a diesel shop rebuild or maybe replace the turbo if needed.

I think your jeep has the Toyota 4y engine in it. Maybe there's someone near you that knows about them.

I just checked and the best information I have is it's the 2.7 liter CRD engine built by Daimler-Benz in Austria.

In other words, I don't have a clue to what's wrong with your jeep.
