trouble shifting

I have a 1994 grand cherokee laredo with a 5.2. I've been having problems with this thing for a while now but recently got the engine running well. My ignition coil was bad. Anyway, I took it for a test drive today and its having trouble shifting up. I have to get it up to about 3g rpm then let off the accelerator to get it to shift and sometimes it still doesn't want to. I've checked the wheel speed sensors for breaks in wires but I couldn't find anything. I know little to nothing about transmissions so any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a cable that goes from the throttle body and down to the transmission. It's called the throttle pressure cable, or kick down cable. If it's not adjusted correctly, or not even hooked up you will get delayed shifts. Do a search for the adjustment procedures.

I will check that very soon.I could've missed it when I changed the throttle body. Is there also a way I can test the shift speed sensor in the tranny? Like as far as resistance or conductivity goes?
