transmission replacement cost
I think I have to replace the transmission on my '94 Grand. Can anyone give me a ballpark cost for that? Is it closer to $3000 or $6000? Any hints would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to CF.
2 years ago I had the trans. & convertor replaced in my '97 ZJ at the Chrysler/Jeep dealer with a new crate trans & new torque convertor for $2,400. It came w/a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty.
I checked a few tranny shops first and they were around the same price or higher to rebuild mine, with a 90 day or 1 year/12,000 mile warranty. That's why I chose the dealer, plus I got a new not rebuilt trans.

I foolishly spent $3000 on my 97 ZJ, but it needed a pump, convertor, clutch drum, and cooling lines.

If your dropping the jeep off and letting the shop do everything3 to 4 grand is a good ball park. Now if you can take the trans out yourself and drop it off at a trans shop to be rebuilt that is around 500 to 800 bucks.
