Default Transmission pause

Hey guys Im new on here. I have a 96 grand cherokee limited that has a transmission pause issue. It doesnt do it all time. Seems just when its cold. When it starts to shift up it pauses like I put it in nuetral then it grabs and starts moving. What am I looking at ? THANKS

i have a 95 with the same problem when its cold and i come to a stop it drops into neutral and then after i gas it a little it caches, if u figure something out or come across some info please let me know. thanks

Have you checked the fluid level? That is where I would start.

luisu0808 : I sure will let you know. Im afraid it has a weak tranny. I heard thse jeeps are prone to do this.

Be sure you check it in NEUTRAL. It can check fine in park and be 2 qts low in neutral.

The reason for the change is in these trannys, the pump isn't running in park, but is in neutral. The level will change dramaticaly when the convertor is pressurized.

is it the same tranny as a 95 grand limited? I had one and the prev owner had a lot of problems with some vacuum seal. Would cause hard shifts and delayed shifts. fixed a couple times under warranty..maybe even 3 times--by the time I got it, it never had the problem again
