Default transmission jumping from between gears

hello all. i am new here and am looking for some help. i have a 2002 grand cherokee lorado with a six cylinder engine. when i turn to the left the transmission slips or jumps from third to second gear and back till the turn straightens out. the fluid level is good. i have no reasonable explanation why it would do this only when turning left. any hints tips or suggestions would be appreciated
thank you

Welcome to CF. I'm stumped, man. I will continue to think about it and try to come up with something.

Best I can come up with is if you have the 249 transfer case (constant 4WD), the front axle may be binding enough to kick the transmission down a gear. But that should happen on right turns as well. Still thinking.

Do you have the stock tire size or have you gone larger?

When I first bought a Chrysler product in 08(99 Ram 2500 CTD) I made the mistake of checking the fluid with the transmission in Park. Always thought the fluid was good, but it would do what you said, and a few other things. I then realized you have to check the fluid in neutral, the pump in the trans does not run in park. Warm it up, set the brake, check it in neutral. Take a quick look to see if the pan isn't caved in, though.
