Towing capability of 2001 Cherokee Limited?
I was wondering what the most is that any of you have towed behind your XJ Cherokee's? I'm about to do a move from FL to CO & was wondering how far you've pushed your Jeep's.

I can't stress this enough! Load your trailer with a maximum tongue weight of 250 to 300 lbs. Otherwise, you will have problems with stability on the highway. Keep your speed down as much as possible and lock out O/D on hills. Watch your engine temp closely and change the transmission fluid at the end of your trip.
You can put a bathroom scale under the tongue and shift your load to adjust. I've had experience with boat trailers. We generally had to load the boat most of the way and crank it forward until this weight was reached and then adjust the cradle to the boat at that point. Changing to a heavier motor required adjusting the boat to maintain at least 200 lbs. on the tongue. This is about the weight on a person standing on the bumper.
