throttle problem

Every morning when I got to work I cannot push down the gas pedal. I pop the hood and the linkage will not move more than a quarter of an inch. After messing with it for a few minutes it starts working fine. Same problem when leaving work. I thought the linkage may just have been frozen. I lubed it with penetrating oil and that did not help. I looked to see if it was hanging up on something. I looked at the butter fly valve. It don't look like there is anything or any reason for this. Any ideas?

Started with the freezing temps?

Disconnect the cable linkage when you park it.. and see if it sticks again overnight, that'll isolate the issue to the accelerator cable. My guess is you have moisture inside and it's freezing at night and thawing after a few minutes of run time and engine heat.

I'll try that thanks. If it is that what would be the best way to take care that.

I'd pull the cable and let it thaw/dry indoors overnight.. hang it with the engine end down. Hit it with some lubricant at the top, let it run through and reinstall.

WD-40 repels water and shouldn't cause issues..

Carbon build up in the throttle body can cause the throttle to be hard to open the first time you step on the gas in the morning. Does it pop loose and then feel ok the rest of the time?

Yeah. Once it pop loose the pedal goes down extremely easy. Like there is no tension on it. After a few minutes the pedal actually takes a little pressure to push

Problem solved. Tv cable had moister in the bottom side. Thanks for the help.
