Thinking budget build....
My buddys got a 98 GC Limited (5.2), traded his ricer and got shafted, needs a ton of work:
Windshield
Driver and rear view mirror
brake lines
power steering hoses, pump and belt
Stabilizer links
tail pipe
filler neck
bulbs
rocker panel (1)
tire rods
also, the engine is misfiring on 2 cylenders and is having problems starting and idling with gas in it, the tranny is also having problems shifting.
i could get it from him for about $200, was thinking about doing a build in the range of $1500-$2000 to get it back to its glory days, ive never owned a jeep product and was hoping to get some feedback on fixing, deals on parts, and just things I should know before getting up to my elbows in it. any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, how'd he end up doing that?
I would start with the engine, if it doesn't run well then there's no point in making it look nice. Misfire could be timing or spark related.
