95 5.2l zj- it takes two blocks for my new jeep to shift from 2nd to third. if i let off the gas it will shift a little sooner. the fluid is full, clean, and doesnt smell burnt. what could this be? i dont know anything about these tranny's, so a little help would be appriciated.

Does it act any different if you turn off the "OD" ?
On a hard throttle take off, does it up-shift through all the gears okay?
Does the passing gear/kick-down work correctly?
Have you tried to adjust the TV (Throttle Valve) cable yet?

Yeah, the Throttle Valve cable is what some call the kick-down cable. It's adjustable.

It's possible. But adjusting the TV cable is a free and easy check.

Default i agree with tv cable

i had the same issue with my 98 GC and after a while the tranny said. bye bye, id check the oil for traces of metal o a blackened color, and also like blue said check first the adjustment of the TV cable my mechanic adjusted the tranny this way when he puttede back in. also just to prevent any further problems ckeck the coolant lines of the tranny, just to be sure nothing is clogged, if one is you can overheat and burn the tranny

As a matter of fact I just posted the same problem with my 99 GC and like you I have not figured out what the problem is. Not like you I have replaced the governor solenoid and the speed sensor and the other sensor inside the trans. I have played with the TV cable but not sure how to properly adjust. I have even adjusted the bands and still will not shift to 3rd unless I let off the gas. Passing gear works fine, when floored from a stop it shifts fine in all gears and there is no difference with the OD off.
