SWAY BAR and Bad lean on Limited
Hi guys,
Just bought a 2015 Grand Cher Limited 4X4 It LEANS real bad on turns and sways big time if you have to swerve.
Can an SRT SWAY BAR improve this? Other ideas? It is a 4X4 with rear leveling but NOT the air susp.
Thanks

Welcome to CF!
There may not be too many people here that are familiar with your 2015 because it's so new, but welcome anyway. I myself don't know much beyond 2004 and the newer independent suspensions are still a mystery to me.
From my experience with older vehicles with rear leaf springs and coil-&-A frame fronts, sway bars always help. I had a '67 Camaro that improved big time with a heavier front bar and added rear bar. So much so that I kept up with the Corvettes in pylon racing.
You talk about rear leveling, do you mean lifting the rear for load control automatically? As in air shocks or some such?
IDK about jeep's sway bars, but some brands have massive looking sway bars the are hollow, not solid. Solid bars don't twist as much but they do add weight. My Camaro had a stock 7/8" solid front bar and no rear bar. I put a 1-1/8" solid front bar and a 3/4" solid rear bar on it and it changed the cars total character.
I think Jeep's whole thing today is to make a street car that's off road capable, not an off-road car that's good on the street. I think this approach started in 1999 with the WJ. Pity. Land Rover did the same thing, although they had the decency to call it Range Rover.

Thanks for the info Dragon. As I understand (haven't gotten the jeep yet....on order) The load leveler is an air shock type system on the REAR only...to level truck for handling, looks, headlight aim etc. They offered a true air suspension that raises/lowers all four corners but that was some option group and was almost $5000 more. I would like to raise the whole vehicle about 1.5" for looks and for climbing my rutted road in Virginia.
I noted the bad sway on the test ride at the dealer. THAT car was a 2WD and gas. I ordered a DIESEL 4X4......might handle different. We'll see.
It was suggested that the SRT has a heavier sway bar and SHOULD fit the Limited..... I'll raise it up and measure when I get it. Thanks again

I'm thinking the diesel should be pretty nose heavy as well, so the suspension will be set up for it. Maybe not. I bought my sway bars from ADDCO. They've been in business a long time and their products are proven. I bought them for the Camaro in '68. The only problem I had was snapping rear connecter links. That's because I was throwing that car around viciously. I was almost talked into going for my SCCA competition license.
If your Grand doesn't have a rear bar, that in itself will make a BIG difference.

Thanks.....I've checked all the usual "ON-LINE" sites including ADDCO and get the same...

I'm thinking that the SRT bars should fit and hopefully be heavier.

That must mean nobody has shown enough interest or the vehicle is too new for them to make aftermarket parts for it. I would think the SRT bars would be better than the 2WD model anyway and the 2WD probably doesn't even HAVE a rear bar. I also believe the 4WD has something like Quadra-drive that is constant and splits the power automatically and has auto-locking diffs. Am I right?

You speak good logic, Grasshoppah....I know nothing and can't seem to get any of that information. All the ads were addressing their $60,000 Air Suspension, raise/lower, rock climber. I DID get the 4X4 and I'm told it comes with "load leveler" on the rear. Don't know IF the 2WD I drove has sway bars....or IF my 4X4 will have sway bars. The PARTS Dept guy suggested the SRT sway bar. Seems that is their "hot rod"
