Hey guy got a problem with my 2003 Jeep Grand v-8. I will start it and it will run maybe a min then dies turn the key again and it will run fine all day so far it has happened when it was cold once and twice at my kids school dropping her off. any ideas. Also it has 88,000 miles on it.

Does the check engine light stay on?

no check engine light at all just dies then I cycle the key and starts fine. its just annoying.

Dirty IAC motor? Do 03's have that?

Mine was doing the same and it was a cam sensor going bad. You need to monitor a few things!
-Does the tacho go crazy just before it stalls?
-Mine used to do it just before it got to operating temperature...that's when the PCM recalibrates ignition timing.
Eventually it would do it when ever it felt the need, so scary once it stall through a roundabout our Jeeps don't like to steer without engine running

and yes the tach does jump sometimes when it happens

If that's the 4.7L, then it is possible that the IAC is sticking or coked up. The Crank Sensor, (located on the engine block, right side, near the trans) can also cause this, however it would do it more when the vehicle was already warmed up.

yep going to seafoam the engine and take out the IAC this weekend and clean it up. hopefully thats the problem

Yeah I'd like to know the problem to my "funky starting Jeep", similar to yours, has a hard start, sometimes dies right when it kicks over, have already replaced fuel pump and filter, I wanna clean my IAC motor as well.
