Default so im dead on the side of the road....

Got a 95 grand Cherokee larado 4x4. It's been stalling randomly with no pattern to go off of. Gotta wait 15 minutes or so then it'll start again. Winters coming a.d I need this for the icy roads. I just replaced the crankshaft position sensor and was on the 2 mile drive to autozone to use their code reader and this time it lasted for just over half the distance. What is wrong with my jeep? It runs perfectly fine until it stalls and I can't force it to stall either.

I'm about to put in a new distributor rotor and hope that fixes it. But really no one has an answer to this?

Moved to Grand Cherokee Tech.

What codes are being thrown, if any?

Classic symptom of a CPS. First try unplugging it, then plugging it back in. Often it's the connector - it's right under the hood/cowl seal - it gets wet there.

I see you changed it. Anyway this test took me three minutes. I guess you might want to try it right when it dies...also one poster talks about having one ohm or less resistance from engine to body.

AC voltage CPS (CKP) test; Small clips on the meter leads really helps.

Unplug the connector at the back of the manifold with wires going down to the bell-housing/cps.
Probe the two wires to the cps with the meter set on AC volts. (a 200 scale on mine).
Crank the engine and note the voltage. (jump it if your battery is low)

Mine somehow works with only .3 my wiring/grounds must be pretty spiffy. .5 seems to be a good mark. One article talked of .5 to .8.

If it's low you can modify the cps. With the next largest bit that won't fit in the hole, enlarge the hole just a tad. Now when mounting it's crucial to maintain firm downward pressure on it while tightening the bolts. An assistant could help with that from above.

The pickup coil, AKA the cam sensor will cause the same issues you're having.

Yeah I've already changed the crank position sensor and tomorrow I will be checking the connections for the cam position sensor. I also have to send back the dist. Rotor because they sent Me the wrong one.

Ok so update.

I changed the pickup coil and now I have spark... But no fuel. I'm not getting any fuel to the fuel rail and I can't hear the fuel pump priming. The fuses are perfect. I hit it with starter fluid and it turned over and gave me a kick so I git plenty of spark. Should I change the fuel pump and filter or is there something else I should check first?

Ballast resistor if you have one.

Or any fuses involved.

You could check to be sure the pump is getting power. I would, at least, to MKE sure its the pump and not something interrupting its power flow.
