Tom Woods has a Short Shaft SYE kit for the NP242j, but it's very pricey.

Other than that your looking at a H&T kit.

As far as driveshafts are concerned...

Has anyone done the hack and slip SYE kit from IRO if it's any good or not worth the 130$s?

You are going to have problems doing a hack and tap on the 247. It has a hardened output shaft (hard to tap and cut) the 249 is the same. If you can find the correct 242 (input diameter there are 3 of them and length again 3 lengths) you will be golden for a h&t however if you want to open your xfercase and a 242 the inputs are swappable between 242's and 247/249's after I believe 96 manufacture year of a 242.

My problem is the mounting I don't know if the all mount the same as the 247 and if it matches my tranny
