Shifting problem in 1998 Grand Cherokee
My 1998 Grand Cherokee has a couple of shifting issues. When you first drive it, it has difficulty changing from 2nd to 3rd gear. After about 5 minutes it will then change just fine. Other problem is when you get up to about 50 mph, it seems like the overdrive will kick in then right back out. Sometimes will do this constantly, other times won't do it at all, & other times will/or won't be doing it, & then you hit a bump in the road & it will start or stop doing it. Could this be a speed sensor problem?

I could be, but it also can be a problem of the transmission temp sensor. The overdrive is only engaging when the oil in the transmission is warmed up, but not too hot. If it changes when you hit a bump, I would check the connector on the transmission, located next to the shift linkage.
And welcome on CF.
