seafoam intake treatment issues
 

I trickled half a bottle of seafoam down my throttle body now when i accelerate in low rmp it hesitates and stalls a bit. is there a sensor on the throttle body that i killed? it idles smooth and is fine once it gets going.

You ruined the TPS. I did the same thing to my 00 WJ. When the liquid hits the throttle plate, it runs directly toward the TPS on the end of the shaft. There is a seal there, but it's basically a vacuum seal and not designed for liquids. My jeep threw a code though. Before the liquid evaporated, it wouldn't even idle. Then it ran rough at anything above an idle. I should have induced it thru a vacuum line like the CCV or heater supply. I used the pressurized can with the hose that goes into the intake duct. Nothing but air should go thru the throttle body. At this point, I wouldn't even try water that way!

I think so too. That's what I was gonna try first cuz the transmission started bucking also. I'll fix it this weekend and let everyone know what it was.

Yes, I forgot to mention that. The shifts were brutal and the bucking didn't help either.

Dang. Changed tps, mass air, pretty much any sensor on the intake manifold and throttle body. Even an o2 sensor. All from the junkyard but what are the odds? Still hesitating. It's only at low rpm and gets worse as it warms up to temp. Just 2 - 4 almost rhythmic hesitation's upon acceleration. Are there any other sensors that could have been effected? Wtf

Got it! It was the idler sensor. I changed it out, but when I looked at it again and into the throttle body where it sits there wa's a ton of carbon built up where the valve button on top goes. Blasted it all out and she runs like new. I bet when I got all sloppy with the seafoam it tacked up the carbon in there, enough to keep that valve hung up. Thanks guys.
