Rusty Brakes
Has anyone successfully removed rusty or broken brake bleed screws from their brake calipers? I was trying to open my bleeder screws to bleed my brake calipers today and they broke off due to rust. Penetrating oil did nothing. I took a shot at drilling out the bleeder and using an easy out. The easy out broke in the hole.
Time to buy some new calipers.

The first thing I check before doing a brake job is if the bleeders will turn. If they don't I just replace the calipers. Why spend a bunch of time trying to fix a bleeder screw on a thirty dollar caliper?

Four new bleed screws are only $4 instead of four calipers for $150. It was worth saving $146, but it's never worked for me. I've tried replacing bleeders on other vehicles and I'm coming to the conclusion that once they are stuck there's not much you can do.

Old fart with a wrench
I've been working on cars for over 50 years and I've heard of stainless steel replacement bleeder screws, but I'VE NEVER SEEN ONE in my entire life! Yet!
