Reunited with my old girl

Alright so as the title states u was recently reunited with my old girl that I build from the ground up needless to say though she wasn't taken half as care of as she was when I had her so I've got to do some rebuilding and extensive repairs my planes are to turn her into a rugged expeditionary rig with the daily driver in mind as well
I got herbal a couple of months and haven't really had time to do a bumper to bumper yet but from what Ive seen I'll need to rebuild the front end and I'll be replacing the rugged ridge tie rods over to rusted since parts will be easier to find if needed and the current setup is pretty much fubar the reared is making a grinding noise so I'll have to look into that and I'm thinking my fuel pump went out as well because she won't crank now and there's not any fuel pressure
Other then that I'm going to rip the carpet out because it's ruined got soaked and is all mildewed and I'll do like I did with the XJ I had and bedline it as for the headliner I'm thinking of getting some of the spray on insulation and just trash the headliner all together if anybody knows a good brand I could get ahold of let me know
I'll keep you updated and post pictures soon

Today I started ripping out the interior to get ready to take out the carpet and start prepping it for bed liner I also used some of this time to try and figure out my engine problems I'm a little stumped because it's acting like it could be multiple things so I'm just going to go ahead and get a new camshaft and crankshaft position sensor and get plugs wires and cap and rotor and a fuel filter and pump and hopefully it's not the pcm but that should cover my basis and they're fairly cheap too

In my search for insulation I came across two products that got my attention one is lizard skin and the other is upol raptor Bed liner
Was reading some stuff about them and I should be able to apply the lizard skin as an insulator then spray the bed liner on top of that to give it durability
Was going to see if anybody has any experience with either or both of these products

Dude I'm telling you should keep some type of carpet in there. its going be noisy, warm because you have no insulation. You also want it as a daily driver. going those routes will not make it near a daily driver. I beat the crap out of mine now but still maintain the carpet. I would just get a new carpet, insulation and then put in some weather tech floor mats or something that is molded for your floors. now if you planned on making it just a romper then yeah I would rip everything out of it and put in four bucket seats but that's just me. loser!

In the first picture of the front end, the camera angle makes that shackle look huge lol

Also, a lot of people report chemical smells that linger for a long long time after they bed line the interior. Could look for a junkyard carpet that's not in terrible condition and clean the crap out of it.

sapietrzak 11-09-2015 03:47 PM

that carpet doesn't even look that horrid. could just pressure wash the living piss out of it. I agree that he is going to have more cons than pro's by eliminating the carpet completely.

The carpet is gone for the most part and Smells horrible the last jeep I had wasn't too bad with the bed liner interior I just wished I took my time on the last one which I'll be doing it to this one I'm ripping all the interior panels out and bed lining them like the door panels are done and lizard skin makes a sound deadener and heat resistant spray that can be sprayed over with bedliner I've read some pretty decent reviews on it
On the last jeep I did herculiner in it and got rid of the chemical smell by degreasing the interior and leaving Windows open for a couple of days

Oh and as for the shackle yes that thing was HUGE lol those two pictures of the jeep were when I was buying it back

Hahaha. beast shackle

sapietrzak 11-09-2015 08:49 PM

Well Huge to someone of your stature is normal hahahaha. You'd be better having some actual insulation. For both warmer and cooler climates.

Maybe use a rubberized type so it deadens some of the sound maybe.
