Replacing combination flasher - 95 ZJ

I have a 95 LImited ZJ with 4.0L and the right blinker flashes too rapidly. I checked all the bulbs and everything is fine. The wiring and sockets appear to be OK, All four signal lights are working OK.

So I was thinking perhaps something wrong with the flasher OEM p/n 56007243. While searching around for an OEM Chrysler flasher I was directed to an EP27 flasher which is suppose to be able to replace an OEM 56007243.

After the EP27 arrived and installed all my directional are working OK but the EP27 make a constant clicking noise, so I removed it and put in my old OEM flasher and the right turn signal now flashes rapidly again.

After some more research I found the flasher I should be looking for, for a 93-98 Grand Cherokee is an EP39 which has some sort of circuitry so the VIC doesn't cause the flasher to click rapidly. Some about the VIC is connected to the same circuitry as the flasher, requiring an EP39.

EP39 - http://novitatech.com/?q=aftermarket...-flashers/ep39

After looking around for the less popular EP39, the least expensive with shipping is around ~$35.00

So now I'm looking at used OEM 56007243 Chrysler flashers as AFAIK Mopar/Chrysler no longer manufactures an OEM 56007243 or compatibly Chrysler flasher. I'm not completely certain perhaps there are "new" OEM flasher for later model Chrysler cars that is compatible but haven't been able to find one.

I just can't see spending ~$35.00 for an aftermarket non-oem flasher.

I did come across a Ford Flasher that's suppose to be compatible or the same? as the OEM 56007243.

Ford TBB89 - F65B-13350-AA

Appears the same except for outer markings.

I don't know, I think I may end up getting a "used" OEM 56007243 off eBay.

The front turn signal bulb must be 1295NA and the rear turn signal bulb must be 1156.

Other bulbs will fit the socket and will illuminate, but the wattage (current draw) is less than the correct / specified lamp. When an incorrect lamp is used the vehicle will flash rapidly.

OK that's good to know I'll take a closer look at the front lamps again, they had all tested working OK. I replaced any bad rear taillight bulbs, including those of the 3rd brake light.

As previously stated with the EP27 installed the left and right blinkers functioned normally. I'll also take a closer look at any wattage rating on the lamps.

I should have some 1295NA's somewhere in storage? On the average run approx. ~$7.00 each. I did find a pack of 10 "Candlepower" 1295NAs for $5.00+$4.10 shipping on eBay. Candlepower Inc is a US based company incorporated in Rockville Maryland in 1978. So I'm thinking the quality should be OK?

Apparently the 1295NA and 1295A are ~12.8 volts @ ~26.9 watts

1157A is amber coated and 1157NA is natural amber glass or not coated.

It appears the problem turned out to be a faulty combination flasher. After replacing the existing oem with a used oem from eBay there's both directional s are working as expected (no rapid flashing).

Update:

Right turn signal seemed to work ok, but today found it flashing faster than the left turn signal.

So I removed the VIC and now both the right and left flasher flash at the same speed.

I'm uncertain what difference it makes at what speed they're flashing but thought I would get both turn signals flashing at the correct speed just in case there's some sort of effect on the electrical system, etc.

I'm not certain if it's perhaps one of the front turn signal lamps or other. I'm uncertain what to do about the VIC as when it actually turns on and function it reports a problem with the rear tail lamps and sometimes the 4WD lo and haven't seen any 4WD High from it's display. I'll just leave the VIC removed for now. If have the time perhaps try to re-solder the pcb's traces?

I'll take another look at all of the exterior lamps wiring and sockets.
