Default Replacing the BCM

My 98 ZJ has a bad BCM so I bought a used on off of Ebay. I have read that I will need to get it reporgrammed to work with my vehicle is this true? It's from the same year as mine. I'm hoping it's just a simple swap and go but can anyone confirm if it needs reflashed to work with a different vehicle?
