Default 04 GC Running rough, check engine on

This morning, my 04, 4.0 GC Laredo was running fine. Stopped to fuel up, still running fine. About 3 miles after fueling, I was going up a pretty steep hill at interstate speed when I seemed to be losing power. Then the engine began to seem to mis-fire and the check engine light was flashing. I made it up the hill and pulled over.
The engine idled fine, but seemed to be skipping with a little throttle. I switched off, immediately restarted, and all was fine. The check engine light stayed on solid, but the engine ran fine all the way to work.
The vehicle has about 105k miles.
Haven't got a chance to check the codes, but does this sound like a common problem?
At first I thought it could be bad fuel, but after running fine on restart, I doubt that is it.
Any ideas?

could be 02 sensors acting up/ bad but without the codes being read, cant really tell. Check autozone or someone like that they will give you a free scan let you know what they most likely mean.

Thanks for the replies.

I got the codes checked at Auto Zone.

The guy said it had three codes:

One Random code.

Random Misfire cylinder 3
Random Misfire cylinder 5

He reset the check engine light, I'll see what happens.
It ran fine all the way home today so I have to wonder...

Time for a tune up or just some random glitch?

Thanks again for the help.

something caused them to misfire... sounds like a CPS is about to go to me... can cause timing issues which throw codes for misfires...

So by CPS, you mean Crankshaft Position Sensor I assume? (not camshaft)

Since the sensor is pretty cheap, I guess I should go ahead and replace it before it leaves me stranded someday.

Thanks for the help huntingman.

yeah crankshaft position sensor... i dont think i would go out a buy it yet though... you may get stranded but it could be a few different things... the CPS is known for this issue and causing other issues like a no start so if i had to GUESS it would be that... but could have been things like the TPS, water in the distributor cap, water in the gas, computer controlling the injectors... but the CPS is the most common on these... youll know more if and when it goes out all the way... lol... itll give you more symptoms to find out lol...
