Default catalytic converter leak?

I installed a direct fit catalytic converter and muffler. The muffler sealed good with the clamp, but I am getting some exhaust leaking from where the pipe from the engine goes into the catalytic converter.

I could have it welded, but what if I ever have to take it apart?

Any suggestions?

I see them at advance alll the time they are great. They come standard in magnaflow and borla. But band clamps require more tourqe.

I checked Advance Auto and Autozone, but neither one carried the 2.25" one that I need. I did find them online though, so I will have to order one I guess.

dumb question...did you buy a new exhaust gasket for the cat?

unless the flanges are REALLY damaged, a good lead type gasket should seal up just about anything.

There is no gasket, it is a slip fit right into the cat.

I got a 2.25" Band clamp at summit racing. There is a still a slight leak, but it will work until I can find someone to weld it for me.
