Ready to scrap my 97 ZJ, alarm issues.
I have a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 250K miles on it. It has the 4.0 with the Select-trac transmission. I bought it from a police auction back in August. Drove it home. Cold air, 4 wheel drive worked great, ran great, no problems.
I have searched this topic over and over again, and now I am looking for any solutions. I am ready to trailer this ZJ to the scrap yard.
I put a new fender, new front bumper cover, and new passenger headlight in it. Washed it, cleaned it, had it looking good, decided to lock the doors.....
When I say, decided to lock the doors, that was the last time this ZJ ever moved. I armed the factory security system. I have no key fob, I have the factory key. I have tried everything. I have ground the wire in the drivers door. I have twisted the wires together in the drivers side door. I have locked and unlocked every door infinite times. I have locked myself in, had the battery hooked up and then tried to start it.
The only results I get, 3 seconds of running, then dies. Lights flash, horn goes off, wont run. Still fires up fine, wont run.
I have tried holding the battery terminals together to reset. I have a fully charged battery.
I feel like I have tried everything, so somebody please give me an idea or something.
This is my 20th Jeep. Many XJ's, CJ's, YJ's, a few ZJ's.
I am lost and soon I will be scrapping this ZJ, I guess. I dont want to take it to the dealership and get reamed out. I know that might be the only solution.
Anybody? Anything?

call a local dealership and see if they can fix and how much. if its reasonable or worthwhile in your eyes, tow it to dealership.
just a random thought, would disconnecting the battery work? like i replaced my battery then i couldnt pass emissions because i hadnt drove iit enough for the computer to be fully reset and ready. maybe if its disconnected then reconnected it will "forget" it was in stolen mode lol

I will break down and take it to the dealership. Like I said, I locked and unlocked everydoor and tried grounding the door wire, and tried twisting the door wires together. I think the reflash on the computer is the only answer. I will post the results in a few days and a few hundred bucks later.
