Radiator insertion prob-2001 4.0 6cyl GC Laredo

Hi There
I have 2001 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 6 cyl that has 2002 engine. My radiator blew so removed old one but cannot get the new one in. We have tried everything to get it back in there like it came out. Although it was a little tough to get out. It is almost like its the wrong radiator or the space is to small. The replacement is for sure the correct one.The one other thing i want to add is we did notice that it has been wrecked in the past because there is evidence of welding and it looks bent a little on the frame on front end. This is on the passenger side but also on driver side the steering box is in the way. It was mentioned that maybe we should remove the steering box to free up that space to allow the radiAtor slide in place without hanging on steering box. However that seems like alot and shouldnt have to be done. Please please reply with any insight or information that you may have to help with this radiator replacement. We have watched numerous videos and tried numerous things to fix it. I mean all intents and purposes this thing should fit back in the space it came out of. I am at my witts end. Help please! Thanks in advance.

Hey Vanessa bunch
I'm new here

I recently changed my radiator and experienced the same. what I found was the petcok( where you would drain the coolant from was sort of in the way( it was like a triangle) and would hit the frame, so removed that and got a lot of wiggle room, and it went down, keep at it, no need to remove steering gear box, our jeeps, any thing that needs to be removed is right there, no need to remove one thing to get to another. took me bout 25 min, of wiggle but i got it.

I Have a question for you. I put in new radiator lines and I did not take note of where the upper radiator lower radiator line go back to. So I am asking, does the upper radiator line on your jeep clamp back on to the upper transmission line and the lower radiator line to the bottom transmission line? I have a 2001 grand cherokee laredo 4.0 6 cyl. hope you can help.
