Default Lighting Question - Reverse

I have limo tint on the rear windows. It is very dark. I like this as it leaves the Jeep with little exposure as to what is inside of it.

However, when trying to back up you cannot see squat. I'm not one for looking at squat but when going backwards squat is good to see.

Do I go to after-market lights for lighting up behind the Jeep or try to find a used back up camera ?

Have you had this same issue ? What did you do to resolve it ?

Thanks !

This is what i did. Cheap driving lights, had them laying around. I ran fused power to the rear and installed a relay that triggers off of the reverse light signal, easy and cheap.

Advance sells a backup camera pretty cheap. I wouldn't fool with a used one.

This is good unless the rest of your vehicle looks like it has mods and an owner that cares about their ride. The mystery of whats inside at this point is what usually starts with a broken window. (sometimes they walk away once they break it then wait to see if anyone cares then they come back) They will continue at this point with robbing you with what ever they can find no matter how long they spend doing it (they know they are safe at this point.)
If a thief is able to look inside and see nothing they want or its going to be too much trouble (from the start) they will usually move on. (hide your ****) That is unless they want the entire thing. Then you take other action.

You can put lights on the roof facing reverse and downward.

I've always wanted to custom fit some into the actual fiberglass hatch. Something flush mount would look sick, IMO

Honestly I would not know if they are on or not. I would bet against the house on this.

I thought of this but I don't like the idea of it really. I like the example above with the small rectangular lights in front of the original ones.

I would like to know if someone has a picture of lights on top in back.

My other thought is that sometimes I will want more light in the back of the rig when I have the hatch open. Maybe a swivel light mounted on the tire carrier .....

I'll look into this. The law wants a light back there so I think I"ll fab something up. But also put the camera into place. This way I cover all the bases.
