Parking brake issue

Have a 02 WJ AWD with a V8 I'm trying to get through inspection but the inspector is being a dick.
I've installed new parking brake shoes and rotors and hardware. It holds if you put it on a hill but what this guy keeps doing is putting it in DRIVE and hitting the gas.
I've got these adjusted as far as I can possible with out burning them up.
Anybody had this issue. My thoughts are its an AWD so it's gonna pull the rear wheels when you hit the gas but this inspector does not get it.

That guy is a moron.

Tell me about it! I don't know what else to do and it has to stay in factory specs.
The brake itself is a piss poor design to begin with and the handle has a lot of resistance.

Find a different inspector. Obviously he's asking something of this vehicle that it was never meant to do.

If he tries it again ask him how much he makes.

Because the next time he punches it with the brake on and that xfer case craps its guts out he will be buying you a new one while job hunting.

I've seen very few parking brakes hold a vehicle in drive and mashing the gas. The inspector is an idiot. Have him do the same thing in his own vehicle, he will pass yours after his fails his test.

I would contact your state inspection hq and let them know. They will be shocked to hear the inspector test the brake in that way. Or just tell him you will contact the state...he will pass it. Like everyone else said, hes an idiot. I had my self a chuckle when i read that

Do the dealers do Inspections in your state?

I'd have a dealer do it, or at least find a KNOWLEDGEABLE inspector.

The one you have now is gonna damage your vehicle.

i dont know about anywhere else, but if you switch inspectors, and the 2nd inspector passes, if they catch him passing another inspectors failure, the second guy gets fined BIG time

JeepingDan 12-22-2012 08:32 AM

I'll have to find out if I can switch inspectors. They are state police here. Some are cool and some are you know.

I feel they wont be fined if their inspection procedure is incorrect. Which it is.

JeepingDan 12-22-2012 08:37 AM

I just talked to somebody.. Said you cannot switch inspectors.
What if I make the AWD inoperable like pull the chain temporarily lol

Who said that? You are within your right to get an objective opinion. Not sure where you are but in rhode island if you are questioning the procedure performed, you have the right to bring it to the state inpection hq to get an exact correct inspection by the correct method as written in the state rulebook.
