Overheating 07' Grand Cherokee

Had to replace water pump because it was leaking, suggested I go ahead and replace older water pump.
Jeep was not over heating prior to replacing water pump. Started jeep tested for about 30 minutes with no issues, no leak. Then I started to drive around. Temp gauge jumped through the roof. Indicator said Transmission temp was too high. Do I need to replace the thermostat? or anyone have any suggestions?

How long did you burp it for and what coolant did you put back in and how much

Apparently not long enough. I went back and burped it again yesterday afternoon and now she running straight and normal.
