Default Overhead Console and BCM
'97 GC. Overhead Console - compass/temp = dashes. Elapsed Time works.
Replaced overhead = compass/temp = dashes. Elapsed Time works.
Replaced BCM = compass/temp = dashes. Elapsed Time works.

Ideas now?

did u run the self diagnostic test on the console? key off, press both buttons and turn key on to enter diagnostic mode...

yes...all it showed was that the display worked...i.e., all the numbers would work. Elapsed time does work fine. Just that Temp & Compass show dashes.
