Olympic Edition (Canadian) 2002 WJ
I've tried posting this question on the "Jeep Canada" forum but had no response. I'm hoping someone here has more information about the "Olympic Edition" made specifically for the Canadian market in 2002. Was this an option package you could tick a box for at your local dealer, or were these made for a specific group of people (Olympic volunteers/athletes?).
They are not much different visually than a regular Grand Cherokee Laredo, except for the "Limited Edition" badge with the Olympic logo on the front fenders. It would seem that all Olympic edition models are equipped with the 4.7L V8, Selec-Trac, limited-slip Dana 44, tinted windows, trip computer, heated mirrors, and power driver's seat, but other than that they're standard Laredo (cloth interior, no upscale wood trim accents, etc.). I know of at least one other besides my own, here in British Columbia - it was up for sale at the same time I bought mine, which was originally registered in Alberta.
I've poked around the Internet and the only other source of information I found was on wjjeeps.com, which has even less information than I've given here.
Thanks
Ian

Thanks Ol Blue... I have, indeed, found wjjeeps to be an excellent resource - my thanks to whomever built it, because it is a godsend. The wjjeeps site speculated that the Olympic Jeeps might have been originally built to transport athletes/volunteers and I was trying to find out if that was in fact true and if so, how many of these were made. I even wrote to Chrysler Canada to try to get information about production numbers for the Olympic Edition, but received no reply so far.
