oil pressure warning light intermittently comes on
My 2005 Grand Cherokee's oil pressure light has been intermittently coming on. I am not too sure what the problem is. Has anyone had this issue themselves?

We need more clues from your personal observations to have any idea what direction to go. Under what conditions? After you hit a bump? Only after it is warmed up at an idle? Etc...

There are only three basic possibilities:
1. At times you actually have very low oil pressure.
2. The oil pressure sending unit is defective.
3. The wire from the sending unit to the light is shorting against something.
I can tell you for sure that, if it were me, I would want to check the actual oil pressure with a known-accurate mechanical gauge - First Thing.
Because if the oil pressure is acceptable you can move on with some confidence that you are not tearing up the bearings and remedy the pressure sensing issue.
But if the oil pressure is indeed trending too low - you can stop running the engine before more damage is caused.
Oil level is OK?
What kind of oil?
Oil light is totally random?
Or it comes on under heaving braking?
Or heavy cornering?
Hard acceleration?
When you tip it over on it's side? <g>

Old fart with a wrench
In my research, I found that in 2002, the oil pressure sending unit wasn't! It was just a switch that tripped and sent a 40lb signal to the gauge. So, you either had 40lbs or you had nothing on the gauge. It sounds like for 2005, they did away with the gauge and just gave you an idiot light, right?
In which case, I would install an aftermarket gauge so I could tell what's really happening. Mopars always had a full set of gauges and my WJ even has a "check gauges" warning & chime.
I later found out the gauges don't get their information directly from the sensors anyway. The data displayed on the gauges comes from the PCMs interpretation of the sensor outputs.
