oil pressure
hi all i am looking to buy a 3.1td 2001 gand cherokee all seems ok low miles 97000 good condision but it shows no oil pressure on the instument panel it moves a very small amount when you turn the key on but nothing happens when you start the engine the jeep seems to run ok so perhaps just the pressure switch is this a common failer oil the 3.1

Take it to a mechanic or do it yourself and put a mechanical gauge on it.This will tell you if the sending unit is bad or possibly the gauge in the dash is bad. I would say that if a diesel doesn't have oil pressure it will pretty much stop running real quick, at least our trucks at work do.
