Oil leak at rear driveshaft
 

So I always assumed it was my tranny oil pan gasket since thats been leaking for a bit so i went and finally got the stuff to do the job and while I was under there I noticed theres a nice oil leak from the rear driveshaft where it connects to the transmission. Ive done pinion seal replacements on my XJ before and have done one on my WJ on the diff side. I have a service manual that ive read over but im just asking for input from you guys since ive never worked on anything transmission wise yet. Is it just a seal and simple install or could it be worse? Any tips and info would be great, thanks!

if you're talking a slip yoke seal on the transfer case, it's easy.
just remove the driveshaft and pull the seal. tap a new seal in using a plastic mallet or block of wood and a hammer.
re-install driveshaft.
top up transfer case fluid.
done.

So im going with the rear output seal as the service manual calls it. I took a couple pictures just in case you guys see something else, but its definitely coming from the yoke and spraying everywhere.

That leak could be a sign of the output shaft bushing being worn too. Check to see if there is a lot of up and down play in the slip yoke.
