i have a 94 GC V8 that came with the np249 and the VC went bad on it so i figured what the hell ill do a np241 swap so i tore the np249 down to get to the main input shaft then i tore the np241 down to swap the main input shaft out with the longer one the problem that im having is my main shaft on the np241 is moving so much (i think im not for sure) that the output shaft seal is going out after about 100 miles or so after screwing around with it forever i said the hell with it and bought a used np249 to put back in it now im trying to find out what problem was so i can put the np241 back my jeep but im lost the only thing that i can think of to do is to junk the jeep but i dont want to......i need help asap

Were the shaft lengths the same? Was the seal in bad condition to start so messing with it could have been the last straw? I assume they are same spoons count and the 241 was in like condition of the 249

i know that there are a few styles of tail cones that are out there do you think that if i got a tail cone that sealed around the driveshaft that whatever the problem is would go away because right now i have the tail cone that seals from the main output shaft and has a rubber boot thats goes over the driveshaft
