No steering Stabilizer.
I have a 1994 grand Cherokee limited with 5.2 engine and quadratrac. I was under it this morning and noticed it doesn't have a steering Stabilizer. Do some of them come from the factory without one? If so what's a good one to put on stock lift with soon to add 235 15 tires? Tnx.

As far as I know, they all come with the stabilizer. However, do you need one? If everything is tight and in specs, the answer is no. Steering stabilizers are a band aid for parts getting worn. If you need one, any of them will do

Welcome to the forum.
This reply shows the Moog steering stabilizer, plus all the other bushings and control arms I used to restore original handling to my ZJ.
That stabilizer connects to the OEM points on the "frame" and on the right front outer tie rod end.
Note that all the original rubber parts failed to continue providing proper performance and were replaced, as-shown in my reply.

On an unrelated topic, that vehicle has the NP249 transfer case.
That transfer case requires all four tires to have identical outside circumference. The only way to satisfy that requirement is to have identical tires with identical miles maintained at identical pressure.
When those conditions are not satisfied, then the result is that the NP249 viscous coupler will fail, requiring replacement to restore normal operation.

A steering stabilizers main function is to absorb shocks created by the tires going over uneven surfaces like an unpaved or rocky road. These shocks are transmitted to the steering wheel and cause it to jerk in your hands. As 4.3L XJ said, on smooth paved roads and everything in the suspension tight, you don't need one.
The trick to choosing one is it has to be stiff enough to control the shocks to the steering without making it hard to steer. Dedicated off-road rigs and rock crawlers need stiff ones whereas street machines don't. The main difference between a steering stabilizer and a normal shock absorber is in the valving. It's designed to work in a horizontal position and is not gas charged.
I have a Monroe on mine. They only make one for my WJ. My steering linkage is different from yours. There's one rod that goes from the steering box to the opposite wheel, then another that joins the two wheels together.

Noted and corrected.
BTW, your rig looks like a Mallcrawler with all that nice suspension paint.

My ZJ was operated for most of its miles in the snow belt, so it was as rusty as the rest. I then sanded, polished and painted all the parts.
Now, every pedestrian that I flatten has mentioned how nice my vehicle looks from the bottom.

ROTFL! I was just ragging on you! I wouldn't have had the patience for all that. The only thing I've done like that was a high pressure steam cleaning and spraying it with Rustoleum Black.
HEY! Question! The vent hose for my front diff keeps popping out of the housing. It's just a pressed in nylon fitting. It looks like it could be threaded with a 1/4 pipe thread. Maybe 3/8. What's you opinion?

Thanks, but I shop (and sell) online, not at the mall.

Yes you can tap it. However 1/8" pipe thread is the one to use

Okay, I've been out of the shop too long! It looked bigger than that. Of course if I actually measured it, I'd know!
What I've been doing is putting Visegrips on it and hammering on them to put it back in. That doesn't work for long.

Well thank you sir! That's why I love this forum. It's an opportunity to past on information that we've gained over the years. I try to keep my responses honest and if I don't know, will tell you so.
