I have a 97 Grand Cherokee with @140,000 miles on it. The first major problem I have is it has started shutting off (randomly), wipers will not work, gauges will not work, A/C quits working. This has just started. You can shut it off and restart and sometimes it will run for days or hours without the problems. Any ideas on what may be the trouble?
Secondly, I have replaced all shocks and have an annoying bumping noise from the rear of the vehicle when driving on rough roads. Could it be the sway bar bushings? Trailing arm bushings? I appreciate any help anyone can give me.
Thanks

Ive had similar electrical issues with my 02 WJ.
I'd be driving down the road and the gages would all drop, the stereo shuts off, and the abs lights start coming on. Turns out it was just loose/dirty battery connections.
Take your battery contacts off, and clean the hell out of them, and soak them in some soda and make sure you put them back on TIGHT. If there is a slight glitch in voltage if you go over a bump or something, it starts to freak out the whole electrical system.

You were right on with that answer. Even before I read your post I took out the battery had it checked and cleaned all the terminals and connections and bam......back in service. Now if I can find the banging in the rear of the vehcile I will have it made.
