need pro advice
OK. Jeep started to sputter at idle and sits rough, been doing it a while. Went through all the norms, replaced tps, IAC, cleaned throttle body, new dist and cap plugs wires etc etc.
Well there is a new symptom and it makes it underivable.
The new symptom is that it doesn't shift past 3rd and won't go past 35 mph. First thot when wife told me over the phone was atf or tranny issue but when I drove it, the rpms never go above 2 k when going 35 mph. My thought on this is that the torque converter solenoid is burnt out.
Any pointers or advise appreciated, just don't want to pay for guesswork more thanni have to, and mechanics don't give a crap they just fix till it stops acting weird. Plusni do everything myself.
Please advise

I don't know enough about the GC's to help much, I've never owned one. Just the XJ's.
I'd be curious what the fuel pressure is, whether or not you have vacuum leaks and what engine compression looks like.
The transmission- I don't know which one you have-? Does sound like a shift solenoid may be bad, but that's a wild guess on my part at this point. Make sure the engine runs properly first.
