I assume you have the 4.0L engine? If so, the classic thing is that the crank position sensor is bad. Without it the computer doesn't know when to make spark or when to inject fuel. So it doesn't.

This should help with the CPS.*Click>-> Jeep Cherokee 2000 4.0L - Replace Crankshaft Position Sensor - Jeep Cherokee Forum
That's for a Cherokee, but the procedure is similar for the Grand.
And Welcome to CF.

It sounds like the CPS to me as well. Wish I could think of something simpler. Sorry.

If you want easy, you could check the ASD relay first,it powers the coil. Just swap it out for another under hood relay or use a jumper on the pins. Could also be the PCM. Are you getting fuel?

Whats the ASD and PCM?Im new to jeeps so take it easy on the acronyms hehe.Ye im getting fuel, pretty sure its not the pump and def not the fuel filter.I turn the key and everything turns but no start.Until three days ago it would start on the 3rd or fourth try.

If you here the fuel pump kick on then it's not the ASD(automatic shutdown relay) as that kills power to the pump.As stated,i would test the CPS as that is most likely the culprit, are you able to pull any codes?

Tomorow i got a buddy coming with a portable scope so hell read the codes instead of me changing parts piecemeal as ive already changed the starter first thinking that was it.I do hear the pump so im sure thats not it.Its something before the coil cause the coil gets no power.
