Both of mine have broken off and disappeared. The mechanic who changed my oil last yanked the dipstick loop clean off the rest of the piece. I had to get pliers and fish the damn thing out of the tube.

I found an OEM dipstick online but they seem awfully expensive.

I'd be willing to try an aftermarket one but I'm concerned about it not being the proper length of giving false level readings.

What do you folks recommend?

I imagine driving around with my overflow tank cap off is not a good thing...I'll need that too

You could order the after market one, if you know somebody with the same type of engine, so you can verify the measures of the dipstick (mine is 4.0 so I can't help you), and if it doesn't match, just simply mark it at the correct measures, with scratch for example .

I would think any Dodge 5.2 stick would work. Just check it's length against your broken one. If your overflow tank is a screw cap, I've heard a Volvo cap will fit nicely.

O'Reilly auto parts can get the dipstick tube. Rockauto will have the reservoir.

I don't need the whole reservoir, just the cap on top. Is there a separate part # for that or do I have to buy a whole new reservoir?
