My zj wont shift right.

I have a 1998 Grand Cherokee Laredo and it doesn't shift right. You have to put it in D1 then D2 then into drive. As well 4 wheel drive doesnt work. I don't no where to start...i believe it might have to do something with the shift linkage.

well have you checked fluid? and if its good i have no idea of anything else besides linkage.

Take it to the nearest auto repair shop so they can figure it out...

When i put the jeep into drive it just sits there and doesnt do anything so you have to put it in d1

It is stuck in front wheel drive only, 4 wheel drive wont work, and when you put it in drive it wont catch. That is why you have to put it in drive 1...it also has a problem down shifting.
