What are your symtoms? Is it making noise? Does it lock up when it engages? What is it doing or not doing?

Okay thanks for the tip and if the noise continues do you think it's still the compressor? I heard its not good if the compressor seizes up

If it seizes, it will burn up the drive clutch, belt, or throw the belt off. Depending on the year and model you've got and your cash, you can either replace the compressor and recharge the system, or buy an eliminator pulley.

Warning! Buy a good one. A cheap one won't last long. You may be able to get a shorter belt and reroute it. Look for one that doesn't have AC.

Just look at the bearings. If they look substantial, buy it.

I replaced mine with a second alternator so I could have a completely separate charging system for my accessories. (amps, winch, lights ect...) That could be another option
