Smile My 96 ZJ doesn't like my summer holiday

Last summer half way in the holiday trip, the cooler started leaking. We could finish the trip, but I had to refill 2liters/50km.
Tomorrow we are going to leave for holiday, and guess what happened? Yes you are right, today when I arrived home the coolant started to boil. I have checked, there is no leak, after it cooled down it sucked back the coolant properly from the overflow tank, so my only idea was the thermostat. I have remove it, it's a 195F one. Started to heat it in water, it was boiling for a while, when it finally started to open, but only for 2mm.
So I decided to do the trip without it, anyway it's a real hot summer, I tested with climate the temp is not higher than 180F.
By the way it's real good fun to remove the thermostat housing in the L6 engine .
Any ideas what brand should I by, after we returned?

I don't know what brands are available to you, but I've always used Stant Superstats when I can find them. I'm told that Auto Zone aren't bad either.

We did the trip successfully, the temp was not higher than 180F even with climate on the highway, so it seams really only the t-state was faulty, I will replace it soon. I have found Stant at RockAuto, what is your opinion about the opening temp, does it make any sense to go lower (180; 160F) or I should keep the original 195F?
